The desire to associate with someone of the opposite sex is as natural as the sun rising in the morning. This brings up the subject of dating.
What is a date?
A date is a prearranged time spent with someone of the opposite sex. Everyone wants some one to talk to; someone with whom to share both their joys and problems.
There are different types of dates, which include group dates and single dates. In the group dates, we have a lot of people who gather together to learn from each other and to share their joys and problems together. While in a single dates; we have singles that spot a person he /she enjoys his/her company and willing to share his/her joys and problems with. Sometimes, some people first engage in-group date before single date.

There are dangers in dating just like other things that has advantages and disadvantages, the danger is that you will do something that will that will seriously damage your chances for future happiness and a successful marriage. It is easy for young people to think,” I have all my life before me. My choices now won’t make any difference.”

Who do you date?
Remember that whenever you date someone, it means that you are putting your approval on that person. Therefore, a boy or girl should know about the person he or she intends to date- his/her reputations and his/her background before going out with him/her. Don’t just jump into a date with someone you don’t know his/her reputations and his/her background; at least you should have some knowledge about his/her character, reputations and background. It is better to be at home than to go out with the wrong kind of date. It is unfortunate that some people go on blind date, that’s going out with someone they have never known/ met before. Sometimes going out with someone you have not met with before may bring about two wonderful people together when met with the right person, while sometimes it may bring about bad situation when you meet the wrong person. It is always good to date someone who thinks and believes as you do, especially someone of the same faith and believe because there a lot danger dating someone who has different thought and believe is different from yours mostly someone whose religious belief is different from yours. It is better to be alone than in the wrong company.
How to ask for a date
The basic problem with most young people today that likes to date is how to go about asking for a date. The young boys and girls are trying to figure out how they can ask their desired partners for a date, but the first move should be for the boys. It is customary and wise for boys to do the asking and not the girls. This is well in advance, not at the last minute. When you as a boy call the girl on phone or write to her; don’t make her to guess who you are rather, speak up and sound confident. Be courteous and be specific. And whenever you want to give a girl an invitation, do the same. Just be specific on the date, time and the venue of the event also make sure that her parent are aware of where your taking her to and its also good to tell them when you will be back and if any change in your plans you should equally get the parent informed. This will prove that you are responsible man.
If a girl refuses your invitation, just accept it gracefully and believe that she may come with you some other time. Also remember that you don’t have any right to insist that a girl explain why she I turning down your invitation.

One thing girls should bear in mind is that a girl’s reply be polite and courteous. If she can accept, she should let the boy know that she appreciates the invitation and is looking forward to going out with him and if she cannot, she can simply answer him politely and say “I’m sorry my dear, but I can’t go, but I do appreciate your asking me”. If she has a reason why she should not go and wants to tell him, she can tell him and she should not lie. It’s always good to be ones ‘self than to pretend.

Don’t make the mistake of committing yourself to someone you don’t know, ask questions my dear to avoid the bad roads that leads to “HAD I KNOW”.
